Fact Sheets

The Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS) Education Committee has developed factsheets on various exposures of concern.

The factsheets answer frequently asked questions about exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The factsheets are listed by category. The links take you directly to the factsheets in pdf format posted on the OTIS website.

All medications are listed by generic name.  The generic name can be found on your prescription or medication packaging listed as the Active Ingredient, or in parentheses after the medication’s brand name.

  1. I am pregnant with my second and am having the most miserable time. I have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) and when not pregnant I take Mirapex. I cannot take it pregant and am lost. I work full time, have an 18 month old, a 7 year old step daughter and am not sleeping at all. I feel like I am starting in on depression because of the lack of sleep. I was researching RLS and it says Low doses of pramipexole or ropinirole (Requip) can be very effective at controlling symptoms in some people.

If your sleep is severely disrupted, your health care provider may prescribe medications such as Sinemet (an anti-Parkinson’s medication), gabapentin and pregabalin, or tranquilizers such as clonazepam.

Are any of these possible pregnant?
